The Saturday Showdown is South Africa’s newest and hottest prime-time TV sports games show. Lighting designer Ryan Lombard was delighted to be asked onboard and he seized the opportunity to use Robe moving lights, including MegaPointes which were a new investment for rental specialist and lighting supplier, Blond Productions.

He runs a very successful lighting rental company – Intralite - in Slovenia, has always loved music and in 2018 decided to promote his own event – Castle - Kolpa Music Festival - staged over four days at a beautiful site near the Kolpa River, close to the Croatian border.

South African LD Peter Rieck of Rieck’s Lighting and joint owner of rental company Event Lighting, was selected by Red Pepper Pictures for the second year running to light Lip Sync Battle Africa. He specified an all Robe moving light rig comprising Spikies and Pointes.

Teamwork is a great thing, and this was clearly evident for Slovenia’s 2017 PopRock Festival, a high profile national TV live event broadcast from Ljubljana, where lighting designer Crt Birsa and set designer Greta Godnic worked their creative magic in a special collaboration … with the help of 200 plus Robe lighting fixtures!

It is Eurovision selection season … and one of the 43 hopefuls for this year’s event in Kiev, Ukraine, in May is Slovenia’s Omar Naber whose song “On My Way” was chosen at a spectacular Eurovision Melody (EMA – Evrovizijska MelodijA) show staged in Hall A2 of the Gospodarsko Razstavisce exhibition centre in Ljubljana.

Almost 100 Robe moving lights were utilised by rental company Luzbel Iluminação for the Main Stage of the 16th Festival de Verão (Summer Festival) in Salvador, the capital of Bahia, Brazil.

DJ, Record Producer, Superstar and arguably the most popular EDM guru on the planet David Guetta completed an incendiary 9-date Brazilian tour in January, which saw Robe moving lights on the spec for most of the shows.

Around 250 Robe moving lights were used on the two main stages at the 2013 Festa do Peão de Barretos staged over 11 days and nights in Barretos, Sao Paulo, Brazil. It was the first use of Robe’s new Pointe fixture at such a large event in the country.

UAE based Lighting Designer Terry Miranda specified over 120 Robe fixtures to realise an eye-catching design for “Watan Al Ahlam” (Country of Dreams), a musical performance staged by the UAE Ministry of Education at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Robe moving lights were at the hub of the show lighting for the recent Skol Sensation Party staged at Anhembi Parque in Sao Paolo.

Around 400 Robe fixtures were on site in various areas at the 2013 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts in Pilton, Somerset UK. Glasto is the largest and best known ‘greenfield’ festival in the world with a capacity of 175,000 and a truly eclectic line up of live music and entertainment over three action-packed days.

Around 150 Robe moving lights were again specified by lighting designer Helmut Krammer to illuminate the 2013 Summer Night Concert, performed for its tenth year by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the amazingly magical Baroque setting of Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna.
